Eugene Lafayette Cunningham, author of Western fiction and other works, grew up in Texas, served in the Navy during both World Wars, and began writing in 1915. Oliver Justin Lee was born December 16, 1881 in Montevideo, Minnesota. In 1901 he graduated from Augsburg Seminary. W.H. (William Henry) Hutchinson, a noted western historian, was born in Colorado in 1911. Hutchinson served in the merchant marines from 1933-1946, seeing duty in World War II.
